Essex Housing Annual Delivery Plan approved
28 February 2024
Step forward in delivering an exciting programme of new homes and community assets across the county.
The 2024/25 Annual Delivery Plan for Essex Housing, Essex County Council’s award-winning in-house developer, has been approved.
The agreed plan will see homes being brought forward across the county, with schemes in Colchester, Harlow, Epping Forest, Maldon, Chelmsford and Castle Point.
Essex Housing was setup by Essex County Council in 2016. Its schemes make best use of publicly owned land to provide new sustainable homes and community buildings, to improve local areas and fund vital public services.
The team are delivering high quality housing for adults with disabilities, older people, affordable and private sale, as well as new community facilities.
Work has already been completed at four sites and residents have moved into new homes in developments in Chelmsford, Ingatestone and Rochford.
Four other sides are under construction, with homes being brought forward at Shernbroke Road, Waltham Abbey; Purford Green, Harlow; Lexden Road, Colchester and apartments above a brand-new library for residents in Shenfield.
Today’s decision to approve the Essex Housing Annual Delivery Plan shows the continued commitment that we are making to levelling up by investing in our communities, in the local economy and developing new homes in Essex. We are very proud of what Essex Housing has delivered to date and this plan shows that we aren’t taking our foot off the gas.
Councillor Lee Scott, Cabinet Member for Planning a Growing Economy
The current Essex Housing programme will deliver 1,028 homes. Around half of the homes are for older people, people with disabilities or general needs affordable, of these 410 properties already have planning permission.
