Essex Housing wins second prestigious industry award!

Essex Housing, Essex County Councils (ECC) housing development arm, is delighted to announce that it has been awarded Housebuilder of the Year - South at the UK Housing Awards 2022. This is the second award for the team this year, having won Best Development Team rural/suburban at the Inside Housing Development Awards 2022 in October.

These prestigious awards celebrate the very best in residential development across the UK, recognising the teams, schemes and solutions that have made a positive impact on the communities that they serve.

The team’s entry for this award highlighted the achievements made over the last year that have contributed to a live development programme of over 1000 homes to be delivered over the next five years, half of which are affordable and specialist homes for adults with learning disabilities and older people across Essex, as well as the delivery / rejuvenation of community assets, such as libraries.

Essex Housing has secured planning permission for 449 homes to date and is awaiting determination on a further 38. They have successfully completed construction of 78 homes, with contracts awarded and construction forecast to be underway on a further 134 homes this year.

I am thrilled that Essex Housing are receiving the industry recognition that they rightfully deserve. A second award this year is a fantastic achievement and represents the hard work and innovation that the team have shown in bringing forward high quality housing and community assets that our county can be proud of.
