Vital homes in Harlow move one step closer to completion

04 December 2023

A topping out ceremony for a new residential development was held this week in Harlow.

The event marks a key milestone in the construction of the development, which will deliver important new homes.

The development is being brought forward by Essex Housing, Essex County Council’s development team. It will feature 35 new sustainable two, three and four-bedroom homes, six of which have been allocated for affordable housing.

All homes will have an EPC A rating thanks to the use of air source heat pumps and solar panels and will include electrical vehicle charging points.

The development will also include a woodland walk as well as the retention of oak trees to enhance open spaces.

Dubbed ‘Oakview Walk’, the development received planning consent in June 2021.

Marfleet & Blyth was awarded the contract to construct the new homes in January 2023 before starting work in May 2023.

Homes will be available to purchase off-plan next spring, with completion expected to follow later in 2024.

This site is a perfect example of how Essex Housing is helping to deliver the new homes our county so desperately needs, as well as shaping great places for our residents to live and providing a return to the taxpayer. I’m delighted that we are now one step closer to delivering this scheme and look forward to seeing it progress.

Councillor Lee Scott, Cabinet Member for Planning a Growing Economy

Oakview Walk will be the latest development to be delivered as part of an exciting programme of over 1,000 new homes that Essex Housing are bringing forward in the next five years.
